FRESH BLOOD: 1996, 55 MIN
|
FRESH BLOOD is a hybrid documentary involving personal narrative and a
video essay style. It's dominant themes are around belonging and
identity. Specifically the piece engages issues of: Jewish racialized
identity; Arab / Jewish dichotomies and the ways these come together in
Iraqi Jewish culture; the personal implications of the politics of
Palestine and of the Jewish holocaust; as well as issues of
multiculturalism. Throw in some bellydancing and there is sufficient
material to provide a critical and vibrant look at the various
intersections of identity.
